Do you want to be made well?

“Do you want to be made well?”  (John 5:6)

It’s a powerful question for anyone wishing to make a positive change in their life.

For many patients after joint replacement surgery, it’s more relevant than ever.

Because healing doesn’t end in the operating room.

It starts there.

Recovery asks something from the patient.

Not perfection.
Not instant strength.

Just willingness.

• Willingness to show up to therapy
• Willingness to move when movement feels hard
• Willingness to take one small step forward

Day by day.

The goal of joint replacement isn’t just a good-looking X-ray.

It’s this:

Walking on the beach.
Cycling with friends.
Hiking a favourite trail.
Playing with grandchildren.

Life in motion again.

In the story from John’s Gospel, healing began when the paralytic man (who had been in that state for 38 years) was finally willing to take action after hearing the call:

“Rise, take up your bed and walk.”

For many recovering from joint replacement, the journey begins the same way:

With the first step.
